Title

Fair Trial/Free Press Conference: Artificial Intelligence, Social Media, and the Rule of Law

Description

Founded in 1969, the Fair Trial/Free Press Conference brings together members of the press and the criminal legal system to promote understanding and to assure both the right to a fair trial and the protection of a free press.

On November 20, 2024, a panel of experts from the media, courts, and legal profession explored the legal, political, and ethical issues in a hypothetical scenario involving an AI-generated reenactment of a confrontation between public officials that has gone viral on social media.
